Make 'today' stand out more in the calendar
I don't like the way 'today' is highlighted in the calendar in Outlook Outlook 2016: a thin line at the top of the day, in the same color as the calendar. It's hard to see and blends in with appointments that are not categorized.
Add an option to overlay color on the today's column of today's events.
Or when clicking on the calendar, it would be nice if TODAY was at the top of month view, not the bottom. I want to see the next coming days of schedules, not the past without having to scroll every time.
Thank you for providing a clear signal that we should improve how we highlight “Today” on the calendar.
We are planning to make this update in Outlook for Office 365 subscribers. We will post a subsequent status update when this is available for you to use in Outlook.
Thank you very much for your feedback. Please do keep making suggestions and voting on others’ suggestions to help us improve the product.
This is the most basic of basic calendar features and yet Microsoft has been "working on it" for years??
Also need to have the option of eliminating the quick-scheduling text box that opens (and obscures the entire day) when clicking on a date in the monthly view. Again, user complaints for years without result. :(

are you still working on it?
I just tried another method that might work for some Outlook users. I created an All-Day Event that I simply called, "Today." I set Reminders to "None." Then, under "Options," I clicked on the drop-down box for "Show As" and selected "Tentative." Then, Save & Close. Now, that event shows diagonal lines through the entire day. All I have to do now is to move that event to the current day each morning.
This works for me because I don't typically use the "Show As" options. You could choose "Working Elsewhere," "Busy," or "Out of Office," if they work better for you. I chose "Tentative" simply because the diagonal lines stand out more for me than the others.
The current calendar view is disastrous and, most of all, misleading. You will probably not receive any feedback from many of them, who nevertheless take incorrect information in business from 'today' every day. Please change it immediately.

Does it really take OVER TWO YEARS to implement/reinstate something so simple, which (at the time of writing) 780 people have felt so necessary they made the effort to come here to comment/upvote? Please could somebody at Microsoft confirm they really are working on it?
Microsoft and Adobe are the two richest - and most incredibly unproductive - software companies in the world. Those vast profits are definitely not spent on competent developers!

I would also like to have a customizable colored border or background ONLY around "Today", so that I can clearly see which day is today in Month view.
In month view Today does not stand out clear. Use a border and shading to make Today appear as if it is standing above other days so your eye catches it right away.

I have noted that if you use dark grey colour theme, that the days that have already passed show in a much darker grey which is helping me to better keep track of the days, I have recurring events in my calendar every day which if i highlight the colour of an event scheduled for "Today" highlights all of those so is ineffective. Would really like better customisation for the outlook calendar.
Keep in mind that this was the normal in the 2010 version of outlook. The calendar had so much more functionality and the customization options were a lot more extensive too. I really do miss the 2010 interface across all Office products. Removing the Today's background highlight of the light yellow was an awful decision, and given the fact that it has already been implemented in previous versions: it shouldn't take this long to 'implement' it....just restore it.
Please correct the status of this item and remove WORKING ON IT. After two years, obviously no one is actually working on it. Two years to make a straightforward UI adjustment? I am truly, truly embarrassed for you all.
I hate the way the line goes through the past days and stops before today. I keep thinking that yesterday is today because it makes sense to me that the line would be sliding through today's appointments, not beside. It's super confusing. I'd rather it not be there than be the way it is, but I don't see a way to change it.
Seems to be a difficult thing that it takes 4 years for Microsoft to improve this?! So many people are waiting for it. Is there any roadmap?

This needs to be configurable by the user, not by Microsoft, as every person's requirements are different. Mine needs to stand out like a glowing beacon in comparison to the 80+ items I see in each month view.
This is affecting me every single day!

And if it's possible to make the hour stand out too, please. Maybe I'm crossed eyed, but when it gets to Thurs or Fri, and I'm reading across to see the row I often end up on the wrong appointment. THank you!
It is not believable that Microsoft is actually "working" on this since 2018. I know large companies can become tied up in their own processes, but this is plainly ridiculous - this is a lunchtime fix! We all want a *clearly highlighted* box to separate Today from all the other weak blue rectangles in the calendar, but this is apparently too complex for Microsoft to handle?
IN dark mode, if I want to view my today's calendar in the "Month View" I cannot see "Today" clearly. It would be good if even with a colored calendar with dark theme I am able to see the "Today" clearly
Thank you for planning this. Would you please let us know when it will be released? I have the current Outlook 365 and making 'today' column stand out is still not possible.
Great way to force an upgrade LOL
It is still bad in current ooutlook 365 version. When will this be implemented finally?
