I completely agree. We use this option frequently in Lotus for internal usage and it saves us a tone of time.

User needs to be able to edit the subject line of a received email

User monitoring group email box needs to edit subject lines before assigning to team members. Previous versions of Outlook had a GREEN radio button that would allow editing without opening the mail from the preview pane. User reports needing the email to remain in UNREAD state when assigned to team members. Opening the mail, editing the subject line, closing and MARK AS UNREAD are extra steps that they previously did not have to take.

Editing the Subject, until recently, was easy. I've tried the Ctrl-A way of doing so, to no avail. Need to be able to edit the Subject with key information for moving/filing into folders.

After a long email chain, the original subject is no longer valid (or useful) so it would be nice to edit the subject to make it more accurate. I used to be able to do it on older versions of Outlook

When creating a rule to send/forward an email to someone (with or without specific critieria) it would be nice to have the ability to change the subject of that email you're going to send.

Bring back the feature that lets you rename the subject line on sent or received messages so I can find documents much easier. I really don't like that I can't do that anymore.

At some point over the last year or so, the ability to edit the subject line of messages in your Inbox vanished. I use this regularly to help organize information -- particularly when a thread has drifted. It came up today because one reply in the chain had information on another topic. I just wanted to change the subject to remind myself of the important content.

When a thread goes on for a long time and changes subjects, I need to be able to change the subject to current topic. Because window space on my 15" laptop is limited, I need to use preview screen. Can't get change to show on subject line when email is closed. It only shows when I open the email again, but that isn't helpful.

La nuova versione non consente di modificare l'oggetto della mail, mentre prima era possibile.Potreste ripristinare questa comoda funzione?
The new version does not allow you to change the subject of the email, whereas before it was possible. Could you restore this convenient function?

EDIT THE SUBJECT LINE- In office 2013 the subject line could be modified, in 2016 it cannot. Our office has multiple shared mailboxes. I need to save info for someone else who might be working the same mailbox and for myself when I come back around to working the email again.
Here's the Subject line I received: (External):6022-TD1480914 SCOP
Here's the modified Subject line I need to see:

I want to be able to amend the subject heading of emails I receive. I get a number of emails which have the same heading. It used to be able to be edited on the 2007 outlook version

Possibility of change in subject line on received mails
Before upgrading to 2016 I could change the subject line on the emails I had received (eg add department or other) - I can no longer do that. It was a function I used a lot to give a quick overview of my many mails

Please can you allow the subject line to be changed, otherwise this advancement that has been done is now retrogressing. We use it for filing purposes and for changing so that we can keep a string of subjects even if people change the subject line, we can change it back. Most people are unaware of this feature and as a result there will be little votes, however it is a crucial feature for those that are aware of it.

I have Outlook 2016 and can change the subject line. Open the message and change the title while the message is open. Close the message. A prompt tells you the message has changed and do you want to save it. Say yes and the message closes with the new title.

Our office just upgraded to 365 and I am unable to edit the subject line. Please enable this feature as I use this for filing and searching emails for our project.

De titel van een Email aanpassen of aanvullen. Dat maakt het makkelijker om op te zoeken. En dat ging probleemloos tot de nieuwe versie van 365

Currently if you opt-in at the Insider Preview of Outlook build 1809 it is not possible to change the subject field anymore.
This option is per example used to add a ticket-trace number into the subject of a received email. -
