metered connection
Often Outlook (and Edge browser as well) will think I'm still on a metered connection after I've connected to WiFi. This usually keeps the apps offline even if I say it's ok to continue. Also provide proper sync on metered connection with Outlook 2016
Only rebooting the PC will help solve the problem.

MS Office/Outlook 2016
I have a metered connection to the internet. Every time I turn on my PC and start Outlook, there is a pop-up box that says "we see you are on a metered connection. You are working locally. " Then I click on the "connect anyway" button in the pop-up box.
I want to go to settings and fix this once and for all. Yes, I want Outlook to connect to the internet over my metered connection, WITHOUT haviung to clik on 'connect' every day,
The advice on the internet is to go into windows settings and to turn-off "I connect to the internet over a metered connection." What use is that? I affects all of the software on the PC and how that software runs. I want to pre-authorize outlook only.

I don't mind the metered connection warning, but I shouldn't be getting this when I'm on my home (unmetered) Wi-Fi. Come on. And no, my Wi-Fi connection is not marked as a metered connection -- I checked.

I am so tired of this metered network warning bouncing up and down like the worst game of whack a mole ever. I've even turned metered networking off, it just won't go away, ever. Can you please get rid of this time in the age of unlimited data? This is absurd, a broken feature that was never useful to me.

Please add the option to turn off the Metered Connection Warning for good. Right now I have to address this each time I use Outlook 365.

I am not a fan on having no control of how outlook treats metered connections. In onedrive settings you have this control. Can you please add it as a feature request? Thanks

It would be great to excluded specific apps from warning on a metered network.

Problem:
I travel a lot and use my cellular data to hotspot a connection for my work laptop. Each time I open up outlook, it gives me the metered connection warning. I ALWAYS want to allow this. There is no setting to ALWAYS allow a metered connection.
I realise the warning is there for people to avoid excessive data usage. However, it would be great if there was the option to always allow a metered connection / turn off the metered connection warning.

We need some sort of solution to this issue. Having missing and/or delayed emails on a proper connection is intolerable in this day and age.

When starting outlook on a mobile/3G or "metered connection" (as specified in the settings of the currently connecting network), Outlook will prompt before connecting to the mail server to deliver or receive email.
There is a banner notification that you must check "Connect Anyway" on to continue using Outlook with the metered connection.
We need the option to select "remember this choice for this network".
I have frequently forgotten to check the "Connect anyway" button when I've quickly logged in with a mobile device pairing to specifically flick off an email, and found that it's still in my outbox when I return to the office.

Please allow us the option to override the metered warning in Outlook.

Add a metered connection option that will allow us to bypass the "connect anyway" message and just download mail.
It's quite sad that I had to make my LAN connection metered just to stop your horrendous update practices. You've chosen to make Windows 10 update whenever it wants, regardless of the schedule or any other attempts to control it. The downtime my organization was experiencing prior to making the connections metered was staggering.
This is why I'll be moving my company to Linux in the coming months. You'll find there are many IT professionals planning the same move. We're taking control of our infrastructures and OSes back. Like it or not. Cloud based applications mean that we don't need Windows anymore. Only a browser, and a light Office stand in.
Congratulations, you took your monopoly on the market and built a ****.

I would like an Option to allow apps like outlook to automatically download emails without any warning over metered network (cellphone as hotspot, datacard etc.) and don't want to set the network as non-metered network.

Currently you cannot set Outlook to automatically download emails on a metered network, such as your cell phone as hotspot. You either have to set it as a not-metered network (and download large updates) or click an annoying error message every time, which seldom works first time.

I have an Laptop that has built in 4G capability. I have an unlimited mobile data plan for the laptop. It is the only internet connection I use.
Unlimited mobile data plans are now common place I am sick of working for an hour only to realise I have not been getting mail because its blocking a "metered" connection. this is such a 2016 feature, lets get into 2018 Microsoft.Give us the ability to turn off or on this feature.
