  1. Move Search Bar

Make the search bar movable. The location on the title bar is awful. Often I'll click on it and my application window will resize or move. Honestly, the person who thought it was a good idea to put the search bar up there should be fired.

  2. Readd Folder Name after Search Box Location Changed

After the search update (when the search went to the line above the ribbon) the folder name for the folder / mailbox that is selected is gone. Please readd this option as now there is no way to quickly know in what folder/mailbox I'm at the moment... and when you're using multiple mailboxes this option is/was a life saver

  3. Enhance the SEARCH options to include OPERATORS such as AND, OR, BEGINS, CONTAINS, NEAR, etc.

Need the ability to use OPERATORS to help search. For example:

    SEARCH: golf AND tennis
    SEARCH: golf OR tennis
SEARCH: (golf AND tennis) OR swimming
SEARCH: BEGINS smith (finds smith, smithfield, smithers, etd)
SEARCH: CONTAINS oil (finds oilcloth, uncoiled, tinfoils, panbroil, etc)
SEARCH: aword NEAR/3 bword (finds all occurances where "aword" is within 5 words of "bwork"

  4. Collapse search bar by default like other Office apps

Like the other Office apps Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, they have an option where you can collapse the search bar on the window by default. Apparently Outlook doesn't.

  5. Search specific text based on highlighted text

    Feedback for Office 365:

Previously in Outlook 2016 & 2019 it used to support two ways of using the search:

    1. If highlighted text is present, search code snippet will wrap around when you click To/From/Subject.

    2. If highlighted text is not present, it will create To/From/Subject search code snippet and automatically highlight the dummy search term

As compared to now (Office 365), it's just one way of using:

    1. If highlighted text is present or not present, it will create To/From/Subject search code and automatically highlight the dummy search term

Can we retain the old functions where it works both way?

  6. Allow drag and drop of contacts or text into the search bar

This was available in previous versions of Outlook, but has since disappeared. Please bring it back!

  7. goto Folder from search list

when i have lots of folder that are nested, and I have done a search, it cam be very difficult to find where the messages are located. I would like the ability to see the path displayed in the search and the ability right click on the message in the search list and select goto Folder. This would place me in the folder where this message was found.

  8. Expand search window on click on the search box

Expand search window on click on the search box

Currently Search box is not much of user friendly and its very small window, if the search window is automatically expanded once user clicks on the search box that would be more user friendly and more productivity

  10. Give an option to create predefined search criteria and save as quick actions.

Next to field "Search current mailbox", there is enough space. Give an option to create predefined search criteria and save them as quick access buttons next to "Search current mailbox", like mails from boss, mails with attachments, mail from client etc OR allow us to move "Search Folders" to ribbon as drop down option.

  11. Store searches using keyword sent: in the list of recommended searches

I often search for e-mails that I sent or received on a certain date. For that purpose I am using the German keyword "gesendet: <date>", probably "sent: <date>" in Englisch.
In earlier versions of Outlook, this type of search appeared in a list of my recent searches, but now it is completely gone. All I have left is a list "Vorgeschlagene Suchen" (probably "Recommended Searches) which does not contain my previous entries. So the current list is more or less useless for my purpose

  12. Allow user to define top result criteria, i.e. Specific Customer, Topic, and/or keyword.

Allow user to define top result criteria, i.e. Specific Customer, Topic, and/or keyword. This would aid me in searching by my specific need for top results.

The current top results does not meet my needs in any manner and I have turned it off.

  13. Address Book should have searchable keywords

Address Book should have searchable keywords. For larger organizations, one may not know the email address for distribution groups.

  14. Each email to have a reference id and a database with reference id and cross reference of replies to verify whether the emails were replied.

Each email should have an automatic system assigned reference tag numbering.
Outlook shall also have a feature to make it clear whether the email has been replied.
Please consider a provision to assign RR (Response Required) or NRR (No Response Required) for each mail.

  15. Universal Search for Teams and Outlook

It would be great to have a universal search box that allowed me to find all of my communication with an individual. A search box that could link me to both Microsoft Teams and Outlook results would be valuable.

  16. Allow boolean search

Make it simple to search Outlook for messages that contain multiple terms including wild cards e.g.
    "Microscop" AND "clean"

entered directly in the search box - just the same, simple way that remote access databases such as INSPEC worked 40 years ago.

  17. A traffic light system so individuals can indicate their current workload and availability

Enable a traffic light system so individuals can indicate their current workload and availability, and have this visible to their team members at a glance within Outlook. A simple traffic light shade scale: green through amber and red. During this period of Covid-19, i need an easy way to see when my team are available and have capacity for work - whether it be email/calls/video. A simple green traffic light would mean they are available; red they are not available; sliding scale in between. Ideally visible immediately under the toolbar for each team member.

  20. Provide the ability to jump to an email folder from a search.

Feature to enable to jump to an email folder from a search. When you search for email and find it, enable the folder to be opened from the search result, or provide simple way to go direct to the folder.
