Reduce padding in messages list to fit more messages
Reduce padding (or add option to configure) in message list to fit more messages.
The setting could be a similar like Word has to switch between Touch/Mouse mode, but would be better if it had manual control how many pixels a user wants. This could be under View Settings > Advanced View Settings > Other Settings, for example.

Update - a simpler solution would be to give an option of 3 or 4 pre-set spacing's for the message pane list - e.g. standard wide spacing, new "Tighter" feature spacing and something in between the 2 extremes. That should give enough user choice without resorting to specific pixels / size / % values.
Regards, Mark.

While the "Tighter Spacing" feature is an improvement, it doesn't fix the problem for me - it isn't user adjustable.
For the message pane list - I find the new look far to spread out with wasted space, but the "Tighter Spacing" look too dense and tight.
As mentioned in this post, being able to set a pixel spacing (or similar) would be very useful for the user to fine tune to their preference (similar to the option to set the column widths).

The space between "From", "To", "CC", "Subject", etc is too excessive. Please add a feature to change this.
The space between emails in list view needs an option to change as this is to excessive. I believe this is also called padding between rows.
I use Outlook as a primary work tool and these changes take up to much screen real-estate.

I've just noticed you can compact this to revert to the original padding. In Outlook, click View and then 'Use Tighter Spacing' on the ribbon. Hope that helps...

Stop forcing mouse and keyboard users to use touch-friendly controls. Outlook has a toggle switch between touch and mouse interfaces, but Microsoft seems increasingly intent on making it touch only.

The padding makes the common (and sometimes emotionally tough) task of email triage and management less intuitive, with more scrolling, less mail real estate to work with,. E.g. its harder to find related emails from different threads needed to complete a task

Stop forcing us to use your updated view. Acres of whitespace is inefficient. Give us the opting to make message rows narrower please. Agree that the To/CC/BCC squares look like they have been designed by a 5 year old. Terrible optic update.

The From, To, CC, and Subject take too much space. Please add an option to switch to narrower lines with less whitespace and padding.

Thanks to those highlighting the View | Use tighter spacing - the "improved" inbox view was driving me to distraction!
Now if MS could just implement the same for the ridiculously over-padded To / CC / etc message headers in the create mail window (May 2019 update), that would be marvellous. -

@Paulc, That helps a bit with the message list windows, but I am not taking notice if it affects the to, from, cc, bcc sections when sending a new message or replying. Those too are rather stretched out vertically and take up a lot of real estate.

Try the view menu / current view / Use tighter spacing

I need to be able to see the same number of emails on my screen as I currently do. So less padding please, or padding adjustable to be as it is now.

As of today, March 27, more space was added between the In Box messages in Outlook. I DO NOT LIKE THIS CHANGE IN THE LEAST. PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS PREVIOUSLY .... OR PLEASE GIVE US A SETTING TO CHANGE THIS SPACING. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION

Even with Mouse mode enabled there is still too much padding between rows in email list.

Same request: reduce the padding / give me the option to do so!!
Actually: come to think of it - stop forcing me to accept layout changes that I did not ask for FULL STOP!! I really don't know why I still have to pay you guys money for a product that I have paid for many time before!! In essence, Word, Excel, Outlook are fundamentally the same for 20 years (i.e., any improvements were marginal or irrelevant) and you still dare to charge me for it ...
