The colour of the status bar shows connection status in Outlook 2016
The color of the status bar (as option) were dependent of connection status.
connected - green
disconnected - red/orange
offline - yellow

Immediately highlight in RED the "Disconncted" status message in bottom status bar - user mostly unaware of this until too late.
Often, the only indication that Outlook is not connected (e.g., to Exchange) is a small notice at the bottom of the screen: something like "need password" or "connecting..."
Outlook should give users the option to have a much more obvious visual indicator. It is too easy to miss the notice and go hours or longer without realizing Outlook is offline.

Yes, I apparently need this because I just went an entire week without connecting to Exchange. Super embarrassing. In my case, maybe it needs to be even more obvious. Like maybe the entire ribbon could change color.
This is absolutely necessary. There is no visual cue or notification that the connection was dropped apart from a little white word at the bottom.
It's so frustrating to go for hours waiting for an email to look down and realize that you have been disconnected since 9am....and now everyone is angry with you for not responding.
