Provide a feature to Customize Account Names for email accounts configured in Microsoft Outlook 2016
Provide a feature to Customize Account Names for email accounts configured in Microsoft Outlook 2016 maintaining case as well as re-arrange their order in navigation pane. similar to Windows 10 Mail app. Also It would be helpful for those who are visual to have the option to change the background color of each mailbox, (Inbox, Sent, and Trash), to avoid confusion when quickly navigating between them.

It has always seems bizarre that the user could amend the displayed mailbox names for POP and IMAP accounts but not Exchange ones also - except by using MFCMAPI which is definitely NOT a tool for users . And now for the Outlook 2016 update to prevent even MFCMAPI changes is totally unacceptable. I just hope it was a developers error and not 'by design'!

Please bring back the ability to change the display name of the mailbox /account, instead of the default email address.

Why you change this. Bring the old system back, that i can change the display Name again.

Why would you even have changed this in the first place?

Please let the user decide the email account name, not just displayed as an email address.

I'd very much appreciate being able to change or choose mailbox names, instead of the Exchange default name being the given email address. Frankly, that's obnoxious to me. Thanks!

Oh how I wish I could use apple mail on Windows. It is absurd that I can change the display name of an IMAP account but not Exchange.
Ha!

Allow the user to designate names meaningful to him or her, not an email address

Please allow users to name their own mailboxes with names other than very long email addresses.

I had to change my Outlook account when my email was hacked. I've setup the new account, but the mailbox name is set to the old account - and apparently I CAN'T CHANGE IT - even using the MFCMAPI protocol. Microsoft just overwrites whatever custom name I set. Clearly this is a design flaw on Microsoft's part. One email account cannot possibly last forever - there are many reasons why people will abandon one account and establish a new one. Outlook 365 needs to provide a mechanism to reset the mailbox name!

Users would benefit from a better overview without long e-mail adresses.

"Being able to customize the display name of the Mailbox/Account should be an official feature"
Indeed! Such a basic and common sense thing, we shouldn't have to use a third party tool for this, which now no longer works...

This used to be possible via MFCMAPI but as of Build 1806, the custom display name is being overwritten with the primary SMTP address of the Exchange mailbox.
Being able to customize the display name of the Mailbox/Account should be an official feature as it will help distinguishing between the accounts more easily and provide for a cleaner interface.
Right now, lots of email addresses are truncated (showing 3 dots) and when you have multiple accounts, a long(er) name and only the domain part of your email address is different, you have no way to quickly and easily distinguish between the 2 or more accounts.

It would help to change language when folders names are not in the same language as the rest of the features.
