Provide a feature to Customize Account Names for email accounts configured in Microsoft Outlook 2016
Provide a feature to Customize Account Names for email accounts configured in Microsoft Outlook 2016 maintaining case as well as re-arrange their order in navigation pane. similar to Windows 10 Mail app. Also It would be helpful for those who are visual to have the option to change the background color of each mailbox, (Inbox, Sent, and Trash), to avoid confusion when quickly navigating between them.

When I connected Outlook 2016 to my Outlook.com account, the root folder name is a yahoo email address???? So my ***@outlook.com account is displayed as firstname.lastname@example.org and I can't change it. How did you manage that? Please fix this soon.

From a customer perspective, removing the ability to customize mailbox names is an absolutely frustrating and difficult to comprehend decision by the MSFT developers. I had to rebuild my CEO's mailbox last night to address an unrelated error. Now, this morning, he's up in arms because his Outlook account name is so long and unwieldly to look at. he doesn't understand why I can't put it back to the way he's had it for years now. It doesn't matter how I try to explain that Microsoft did an update and remove my ability to change it--he still cannot understand, and just keep giving me the stink eye. I may be fired here today, just because of some well paid developer's or program manager's stupidity.

Using Outlook 365 and just migrated mail to Exchange Server. Very disappointed to find that it is not possible to permanently change/customize the account name. Temporary solution using MFCMapi BUT this reverts back to email account name after a couple of days.
I have both a Windows 10 and OS X 64-bit version of Office 365 Home 2019, and it's embarrassing how this feature is available on the OS X version, but not the Windows 10 version, especially since these apps were designed for Windows. Why it was even disabled is beyond me. The development team clearly either got lazy or unbothered because taking away features such as renaming AND rearranging our root folder display names steals away from the user-friendly experience of customization. It just looks sloppy having the full email address names truncated or dragged all the way out to view in their entirety. It's a small detail, but it's these small details that make apps stand out from other similar ones. Again, it's embarrassing that this feature is available on OS X, but not Windows.

Please add this back again.
Please add the ability to rename email accounts. With that said, i have to ask, WHY was it removed to begin with? this is an absolute basic requirement to all email programs! one you had in your own product until this version....
Please add the functionality to Outlook to rename e-mail accounts.

Dear Mr. Microsoft, please add the functionality to Outlook to rename e-mail accounts. I personally think that changing the background color of each mailbox is useful, but should be treated as a seperate request (or wish).

Not being able to edit account names, in combination with the rigidity of the favourites system, is incredibly frustrating.
Favourites are meant to be 'links', but yet you can't rename them.
The only way of doing so is renaming the whole account, which of course you now can't do.

It’s absolutely annoying that it’s not possible anymore to rename Office365 accounts. Please bring back this feature because I’m using several accounts and a renaming feature would bring much more clarity to my mailboxes.

Utterly ridiculous that you can't change the account name - just unbelievably stupid.

Obviously the guys working at Microsoft don't have personal outlook.com accounts or else they would have known what a pain this is! How many votes do they need to get this sorted?

Hi you all! I found a way to change the name successfully! You have to add your hotmail/outlook.com account by using POP/SMTP. But you have first enable POP/SMTP in Outlook.com configuration. Go here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/pop-imap-and-smtp-settings-for-outlook-com-d088b986-291d-42b8-9564-9c414e2aa040#bkmk_enablepop_beta so you can obtain POP/SMTP setting and instructions.

What is wrong with you! The UGLY GUID-based name of the outlook.com server showing up in my outlook is unacceptable. I just now am beginning to switch from GMAIL (10 years) to Outlook.com and the first thing i notice is the ugly name in my outlook folder list. If renaming this USED to be in outlook then there is NOT EXCUSE not to put it back in. Get your UI act together Microsoft.

We need this back. Since when is deleting features an improvement? All my email addresses start with my name, so now I need to use far more of my screen to show the extended address so I can tell which is which. Just look at the number of requests for a solution on other forums.

I have been trying to find a way to change the display name for my office 365 email account for several years and have found nothing that works to accomplish this task. I have heard that this was possible previously and the capability was removed. Please reinstate this capability. There are many good reasons to be able to change the display name so now we all have to deal with a big frustration.
Awful design decision to do this. I use my gmail address for my MS account as well as gmail. Now I have two gmail accounts with the exact same username and I can't relabel the outlook account? Why?
as office 365 is so awkward, the only way to add my account to outlook was to use my exchange / office 365 alternative email id which is ugly as . Now I need to change it back in the from field to my actual id but cant
Really need to restore this.
