this would be great especially as my organisation is likely to moveto a blended mode of in office and out of office working, and to a core hours model. Setting up OOF flows is a bit complicated for most people

Well, not to criticize, but I was surprised when I learned this couldn't be done and that it has been requested for years.

Why are we even having to vote, surely it's obvious to automate from Outlook diarised events?

How does this not exist yet?!
When creating a meeting and/or appointment you should be able to enable an Out Of Office email for the time of the appointment. Like most people I mark on my calendar when I will be Out Of Office but then I have to remember to go set up my OOO reply email too. It would be great to have the feature embedded in the calendar -

Apparently I'm not the only one who really wants this feature. It would make life so much easier if there was an auto-reply when the calendar has an event shown as busy, meeting or appointment.
I block off time in my calendar to get reports done, but some people might not know that I'm not checking email because they can't access my calendar and don't know to call me if it's urgent without having to go through the manual process of doing an out-of-office every time.
It's crazy that people have been asking for this for so long and it hasn't happened. The other updates that have been made are usually not for the benefit of the user, or a button is moved just to agitate users and look like improvements are being made. Plus they usually have bugs for weeks. At least do something that helps the users, even if kinks need to be worked out after implementation. At least it's kinks in something we want.

I was looking 15 years ago for this feature. Now in 2020 a lot of useless garbage features exist, but such a simple logical feature is still not in sight.

2 Optional fixes:
Option 1
Add 2 checkbox to appointment dialog:
1 - Enable auto reply for this event
2 - include calendar entry in response
PS garbage in background to make work.
Probably 10 lines of code or less.Option 2 - allow us to do it with inbox rules
Add Checkboxs for Calendar availability or time/date rules. In my opinion, there is no reason for these both to be available.
There are literally 1000s of uses for more advanced automatic reply options and why this has not changed in 10 years is a massive oversight

M$ needs to get a handle on this. Its freaking 2020, and the opinions currently available are unacceptable.

for small 1-2 hour of out of office, I do not want to go to complected steps to set out of office message. I would like to have a default message sent if in calendar I mark "Show As = Out of Office"

In addition to this it should automatically put dates (from - to) in autoresponder message so you don't have to edit autoresponder message to change date in text. This is also ridicoulus. First you need to enable the autoresponder and provide dates and then manually change the same dates in autoresponder message so people can know when you will be back.
