Pin or Stick important emails at the top of your Inbox
Option to be able to pin or stick important emails at the top of your inbox regardless of the date and time they were received when sorted by date. Also consider this scenario: Option to be able to pin someone automatically when we reply or send new mail.
We PIN all the “must” people in the CC so it will save our time in putting all the people in the CC every time we send mail. Plus, since there are a lot of “must” people to be filled out in CC, there may be some mistake to not include some people. We would like to avoid such problem.

The ability to "pin" emails to the top of the inbox is invaluable to me in Web Outlook, but I do not believe the feature is available in my desktop Outlook app. That be be a great addition!

This feature is available on the web version of outlook. Why has this functionality not translated across to the windows version?

I wonder if anyone (at Microsoft) is really listening? Doesn't seem so. People have been asking for the "pin to the top" feature for a long time and yet ... nothing seems to be happening. Seems like common sense to me.
yes, please add the pinning option to outlook. and make the ping work across all devices

I'm very surprised Microsoft has not found a way to put this in Outlook yet--it's an obvious need, and setting up makeshift, stop-gap ways to do it seems complicated compared to simply having a "pin" option.
Trying to explain to my boss how to set up a workaround to pining is too complicated. I agree that if you want to improve our Desktop Outlook 2016 experience, PLEASE PUT IN "PIN" OPTIONS.

This is what I did to have all my messages flagged. It will automatically do this once I open Outlook on my work computer. One rule on OWA and one rule on Outlook 2016 desktop version. So even if my computer is off, once I log-on, I don't have to label anything with a flag.
#1: Go to the Outlook desktop app. Click on the "Home" tab >
On the Ribbon menu click "Categorize" > "All Categories. . ."
#2: A pop-up menu will open called "Color Categories." Click on the "new" tab and create a category labeled "Flagged." Select the Color "Orange" to match the flag. Click "OK" to close the menu, and then click "OK" to close the "Color Categories" menu.
#3: Go to OWA page:
Then go to your Outlook mailbox.
#4: While in the Outlook mailbox, in the top right corner there should be a Cog-wheel looking symbol. That is the "Settings" menu. Click on it. A side menu will then move out with options on it.
#5: On the Settings menu, go to the bottom; click on "Mail." A side menu will appear with a drop-down list on the left side of the screen.
#6: In the drop menu click on "Mail" > "Automatic Processing" > "Inbox and sweep rules."
#7: Create an inbox rule by clicking the "+" symbol.
#8: Name the rule "Categorize All Messages."
#9: For condition select: "Apply to all messages."
#10: For action select: "Mark the messages with a category." Then select the category "Flagged" that you made in the Outlook desktop app.
#11: Go back to the Outlook desktop app. Click on the "Home" > "Rules" > "Manage Rules and Alerts."
#12: A window labeled "Rules and Alerts" should pop-up. Click on the tab "E-mail Rules" > then click "New Rule. . ." Wait for the "Rules Wizard" window/box to open.
#13: In the wizard under "Step 1: Select a template" under the header "Start from a blank rule" select "Apply this rule on messages I receive." Then click on the "Next >" button.
#14: In the wizard on the next screen under "Step 1: Select Condition(s)"
check the box "assigned to [category] category."
#15: On the same "Rules Wizard" page as step #14, under the header "Step 2: Edit the rule description" In the boxed area click on the underlined value "[category]". After the underlying value "[category]" is clicked, a window should pop-up with all your "Color Categories". Check the box with the "Flagged" category you created. Then click "OK".
Click "Next >" to continue.
#16: In the wizard on the next screen under "Step 1: Select action(s) check the box "flag message for '[Follow up at this time]."
#17: On the same "Rules Wizard" page as step #16, under the header "Step 2: Edit the rule description" In the boxed area click on the underlined value "[Follow up at this time]". After the underlying value "[Follow up at this time]" is clicked, a window should pop-up called "Flag Message". Double click on the Box "Flag to:" and change it to "Flagged."
Then change the "For:" flag notice symbol to "Today." Click On "OK" and the window will close. Click "Next >" to continue.
#18: You shouldn't need any exceptions. This rule is to flag all emails so they show in the Tasks area, but if you think you do go ahead and set some. Click "Next >" to continue.
#19: On the last page of the "Rules Wizard," "Step 1:" name the Rule "Flagged." Then on "Step 2:" check both boxes labeled "Run this rule on messages already in "Inbox" and "Turn On This Rule."
Click "Finish" to close the menu. Then click "Apply" to the "Rules and Alerts" window. Then click "OK" to close.
@Ron I've used a similar work around but found that grouping the emails in conversations breaks the flag sorting. Have you found a solution to keep those flags on top while also keeping the grouping by conversation?
A stop-gap measure I've been using in desktop Outlook is to use the flags setting a make-shift "pin to top". I created a custom flag called "Pin to Top". Next I changed the sort settings on my favorite view so that flagged messages are sorted to the top and then I do the normal "sort by received date." I also added a conditional formatting rule to the view so the font is bold for these flagged items. While it is not as simple/elegant as the "Pin to Top" button we're all requesting is does accomplish my goal of keeping certain emails at the top of my email view so I don't forget I want to revisit them.
There is a constant "disconnection" between Outlook desktop program & OWA. At one time OWA didn't have half of the features available in desktop Outlook, now it is the exact opposite. Why is this feature excluded from MS & OS X desktop, instead of Outlook features available across the board?? Obviously, Microsoft saw it as benefic feature or it wouldn't have been included in OWA & Outlook.com (Microsoft free personal email). For the sake of your consumers stop tipping the scale & balance out this idiosyncrasy. Thank you.
Please create this plug-in! Many of us receive countless emails everyday and many get lost in the mix, if we could pin or have a designated email continuously be presented until it's addressed, that would be amazing!!

i concurr - we need a pin option in the outlook 2016 inbox to prioritise messages
Please add this to desktop version, it's incomprehensible that the web-based 365 version has this, but the "full-function" desktop software does not. The lack of Pin feature has jeopardized my workflow efficiency.
