First off, thank you for taking the time to provide the feedback and request Dark Mode for Outlook on the Web in Office 365.

We have heard this feedback loud and clear and have added Dark mode as part of our new Preview Client. Right now the feature is enabled for Targeted Release tenants/Users.

If you want to try out this new feature you should ask your admin to configure you for this early release group. As we continue to validate the new experience we will slowly roll it out to all users over the coming months.

For more details about everything the New Client experience offers, you might want to check out this blog. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Outlook-Blog/An-early-version-of-the-new-Outlook-on-the-web-will-be-available/ba-p/225338

Still cannot enable dark mode, no option to do it. Can Microsoft confirm that Dark Mode is only available for those without a custom theme? I thought the purpose in not making it a 'theme" was so that it could be used with custom themes, which obviously a lot of big companies have in order to standardize and professionalize.

@David Los, may I know if the feature is GA already? as I can't see the Dark mode option. I am GA of the tenancy and many users are requesting the feature.

Just to mention we do have customization of company logo and top bar.

let us change the header bar and highlight colors in darkmode - the blue is fugly.

My organization also has a custom theme which is extremely ******* the eyes. I am seeing the "new" outlook, but I do not have a Dark Mode option. I have also noticed that my organizations custom theme has also broken the High Contrast Theme from properly applying to Outlook within Office 365, so I can't even apply the high contrast theme to try and override the green and pink colors my organization has picked with something that resembles blue.

From O365 you can't toggle the "Dark Mode" from the main setting screen. You have to go to settings > View all outlook settings > select "General" then appearance and toggle the "Dark Mode" there. Once your O365 has turned dark then hit the save button. Hope this helps!

I too cannot change to dark mode, even with the "New" Outlook. I do know that my organization has a custom theme, but as Microsoft explained in some of the other blogs about this rollout, they purposely did not make dark mode a "theme" but had it as a separate toggle. So I should still be able to enable dark mode with a custom theme, but the setting just isn't there.

I have the same question as Corey, how can I enable Dark Mode? I am on the "new Outlook", have enabled the toggle for it, and see the new version, but don't see an option in settings to enable Dark mode.

My Admin has put me in the beta section of O365, and i have hit the toggle to "try the new Outlook", but its not in Dark mode. Is there some hidden setting that, i or my admin must turn on to see Dark mode? Is this dark mode, actually a theme? Because our admin has restricted all themes but one.

Can you please for the love of all that is good make a night mode for people with chronic migraines and any number of other issues?

Allow us to change the background color - those of us with astigmatisms or dyslexia or just a headache after dealing with the bright white will thank you.

I want to have a dark mode - as is available on most other email clients, like gmail.

The white layout of your mail system hurts my eyes.

Dark mode is already present when turning on the preview mode. It's possible your administrator has to enable this for you.

someone asked this, i'm asking it too:

"I need the dark mode for outlook 365 Web and office 365 web.
My eyes will say thank you.
The Outlook.com dark theme offered in Edge is great. Why is Office 365 not offering this ? "

i think there should be a night more display setting where the screen inverts colors so its not so bright and white like what youtube and twitter have

  • Mikey Segall WAM commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Please Immediately add a "Night Mode" Display theme.

I just starting using 365 & Outlook to collaborate with co-workers and it is almost impossible for me to use as the screen is bright and extremely straining to my eyes.

I would love to utilize the full extent of Microsoft 365 and all of it's features, I just can't right now. All i can do is briefly check my e-mails, then get off 365.

    Please add Night Mode ASAP.

Night Mode Setting should be on main page for Office 365 and this should make all products turn to Night Mode. Perhaps add a setting for each service to toggle Night Mode.

    Thank You,

Please allow the themes to change the white background that destroys my eyes to a darker colour. All the themes are misleading as they barely change anything at all.
    Thank you
