collapse folders/subfolders option
With the Outlook mobile app, it is a pain to scroll through ALL my folders to find the one I need. I have created folders and multiple subfolders to help keep my emails organised, but all the folders with the subfolders are always open, showing all of my subfolders. It would be helpful to have an option to keep these collapsed as a default (or at least an option to collapse these folders), instead of always expanded.
Yes! This is a major pain!
When navigating the folders it is very difficult if you have hundreds of sub folders. An option needs to created to collapse them if you don't want to see them
this is essential as not only does our business have multiple business stream which I must file accordingly, but our IT policy have an archive system which comes through as duplicate folders under a parent archive folder and not to mention multiple email inboxes from multiple team email all come through separately. the fact this is not an option says to me that outlook is an inferior UI and doesn't want to elevate itself to the prime UI as this is a very basic function

yes it is really annoying !
This is a big issue. I have so many folders which I need to stay organized, but don't want to scroll through them all. This is a reason for me to look for another app for conpany email if you can't provide a solution
I have many folders. This is the only part of this software which really frustrates me. I constantly file my email, having to navigate up and down a long list of folders is a huge waste of time and very frustrating. I often choose to leave the message in my inbox until I shut in front of my desktop to file them. This feature would make this app MUCH better!
Come on, MS team, more than 3 years have gone by, and still zero piece of news? Sorting emails this way with an expanded tree is really painful on the Android app.
We would like to expand or collapse certain folders and always keep the collapsing state in Outlook on the web. For example, we want some folders to keep expanded and want other folders to keep collapsed. It would be more convenient if you could implement the feature.
An early August update to Microsoft Outlook on the Web has created a serious inconvenience when a user wants to move email to a pre-existing folder, especially if there are dozens, if not hundreds, of such folders, arranged in a Windows-Explorer-type hierarchy.
1. When email is selected and the Move to option designated, a drop-down list appears. This lists 10 folders, the 8 most recently accessed plus ‘New folder’ and ‘All folders’. If the desired folder is not among the 8 listed, the user can either enter the folder name in the ‘Search for a folder’ text-box, (often very inconvenient) or click on the ‘New Folder’ entry
2. If ‘New folder’ is selected, this name disappears, and the user must click the ‘All folders’ item
3. The drop-down list is then replaced with as new drop-down list. This new list is the problem, especially if it contains hundreds of items. Since the collapsible-expandable Explorer-type file hierarchy has been lost, the user must tediously move down through the expanded list until the desired folder is located
Before the update was introduced in early August, the Move to feature had a ‘Select an Existing Folder’ which gave a compressed version of the folder tree not the fully expanded folder tree. This made moving through the tree to the desired folder much simpler.
Summarizing: in the recent update, the capability of readily searching a potentially very long but compressed folder tree has been lost/inadvertently omitted. Please give it back to us!!!

All folders should be collapsed by default

since no response or acknowledgement from MS, has anyone found an alternate?
Please get this fixed, time taken to scroll outweighs the benefit of trying to file and organise emails on phone. Samsung email app that our company has moved away from has this functionality, why not in Outlook ?

still no action from microsoft? looks like this has been an issue for years. Such a simple and obvious requirement
Is this just a dummy page for people raise concern and no one from Microsoft to response this?

The number of features missing in microsoft's non-desktop software stuns me every day. This request is for Outlook on the Web. Same problem in Outlook for Android. I'm going to have to reinstall and then never touch "show folders again. I didn't even need to see them! Just curious. Now I have scroll through a tree structure over 100 folders deep to get to "Sent". Just nuts. I really don't know who tests these products befits they're released.

Arrange emails by sender, but also be able to collapse each folder.
