Mark single item unread in conversation view
You should be able to mark your last received email as unread as unread as opposed to marking the whole thread as unread.
To mark individual emails within a thread as unread you will need to open the email you want to work with > tap on the 3 dots to the right of the email > choose Mark Unread, Flag, or Delete from the popup screen based on the current action you need.
If you have any trouble with this feature please contact our in app support team from the settings portion of the app.

Would be nice to able to mark one of the previous messages in the thread unread - seems you can only do that at the top or the last messAge. Also, once you read a message it automatically assumes you’re reading the next message and makes it read. I often find I miss reading emails because it assumes you’re reading them all

......for a single email within a thread. I don’t want 23 emails from a thread to appear as ‘unread’, just the one I’m going to reply on (which is not always the latest, another confusing issue with you Mail app). Thanks.
Agree. Don’t like seeing email threads combined. I delete what I think is the current one and then I’m hunting for the original email that had the good stuff in it.
It would be great to be able to mark a single message as unread without having to mark an entire conversation thread.
This suggestion is for the Outlook mobile app. If you organize your emails by threads and you receive a new email in a thread, the thread will show a blue “1” in the bottom right hand corner, assuming you have read all of the other emails in the thread. You then click into the thread but that one email does not automatically mark as read until you go back into your inbox. If you want to mark that one email as unread you then have to click back into the thread, select the options for the email, and mark as unread. If you mark as unread from the inbox by swiping, it marks all emails in the thread as unread, which would not be helpful. It would be great if the email becomes read as soon as you click into the thread and then if there was a quick way to mark that most recent email, or another email in the thread perhaps, as unread without having to do these multiple steps. Hope that makes sense and my apologies if there is already a way to handle this.
Can you change your email thread so that I can delete “old” messages in the thread without deleting the entire thrilled?

It would be very helpful if you could have different colored flags for certain emails. This way we could categorize and group specific things.
Why isn’t there an option from main “inbox” to delete messages without having to open each one, then deleting them individually???

So stupid of Apple to do this, and worse not fix it. How embarrassing and idiotic.
In the meantime, when I really need to do this, here is my work around: 1) drill into actual message (not viewing thread) by clicking the title bare or the message you care about. 2) mark as unread from here 3) enter app selection /switching screen by swiping up, double tapping the home button, or whatever your method is.
4) force close mail
5) now when you reload mail it will be at the inbox level, and you will be good to go (force closing skips exiting the message which immediately marks it as read from thread view.
Enjoy some semblance of this basic feature. Shame on Apple for the utter negligence of ignoring it.

I can’t figure out how to “unread” a specific email in the chain. All I can do is “unread” the entire chain.
Maybe someone can help me: let's say I flag a whole thread, is there a way that the flag updates itself to the last email in the thread?
Let's say we exchange a couple emails back and forth, then I request an information, and flag it to not forget. Then I get a reply, but the reply isn't flagged. Is there a way to make sure the reply will be flagged, since it's in the thread?
This also seems to apply when I delete the latest email, it deletes the thread. I sometimes just want to delete the last email.
Possibility to mark one message as unread and not only the thread
When emails are organized by thread there is no option to mark one single email as Unread.
Mark as unread single emails rather than the whole chain
We really really need this on mobile. It already exists on desktop why not here?
in thread organization it is not possible to mark as to read a single email as in ipad.
