Keep position in email when switching apps
I read a fair amount of email newsletters. The issue is that when I click a link in one of them (and thus go to my browser), and then return to Outlook to continue reading the newsletter, the position in the email is not retained. I.e. I am at the top of the email again. It would be super handy if the position in an open email was kept when switching between apps.
gmail app remembers the position correctly. It’s been long enough for Outlook to address the issue. Uninstalled.
If I am reading an email , leave the app to look up something in another app and return the scrolling position in that mail gets dropped - returning to Outlook causes the mail to be scrolled to the beginning again. The same happens when I click a link and get back from the browser etc.. That gets quite annoying over time. Especially as I have to read long mail and have to click the „read more“ button at the end - opening the mail in a popup taking me to the beginning again. I would prefer to be shown the whole email or have „read more“ to take me to the end of what was displayed so far already so that I can read on and dont have to scroll again.
I am using Outlook on an Ipad running IPadOS 14 (current beta).
Sometime when sent a lengthy password or passage of text that is needed in another app, it is necessary to flip back and forth between applications.
The search function is bad and sometimes it takes a long time to find the email in question, then when I flip to another app and back to Outlook, the email has closed and I have to search for it again. It would be better if it remained open the way the IOS email app does.

Email position remains in place after clicking a link. This actually worked previously but a recent update removed this functionality. Now when you go back to email it auto scrolls to top of the email where you clicked the link.
Newsletter type emails are often long and contain many links. Clicking on a link opens safari to show news item. After reading item you can click in top left to return to the email. I would like to return to the same point in that email, as happens with the native Mail app. In Outlook, I have to start from the top of the email again.

Outlook reloads the email, which takes too much time and is not needed, just return to the same place I was in the email when I clicked on the link.
When i come back, after clicking a link in an email to read an article or attachment, outlook closes the email and reloads my inbox. This stinks for me because i have to find the email again (not easy as i have a HUGE inbox) and find where i was in that email (also very inconvenient for long emails).
This wasn’t always the case. Not long ago, outlook would bring me right back to where i left off. I’d like that again.
Very appreciative of the ongoing improvements you all make in this product i use so often, but this one change hasn’t been good for me.
Maintain placement of cursor where it left off.
Currently app has email start/jump back up to the top of the every time you switch between apps, not just when fully closing the app.
Bonus: have this setting optional for specific emails or folders rather than a blanket on/off role
I fully agree to this point. It’s very annoying to have to scroll down an email again once I use a different app, especially if it’s a long one. I don’t think I have the same issue with my iPhone Outlook app. Please fix this asap.
I’m not sure why Microsoft changed this but this never used to happen about a year ago. It is by far the worst thing about Outlook on iOS. It is very inefficient and although I prefer Microsoft generally for all applications over Google, I have forwarded all of my work and education emails to my gmail account because the Outlook app is horrendous. Please fix ASAP!
From a UX perspective, this behavior is the most annoying one for me in Outlook currently
When I search for a mail to find some info to use in another app, when switching back to the app, the search is completely lost. This is such poor experience
While working the the list of emails in the inbox or when you have an email opened, if you leave the application to sit or go to another application long enough, the screen refreshes and puts you back to the top of your inbox, losing you place down the list of emails. This take time to find you place again and at times results in missing important emails. This apparent refresh is disruptive in an otherwise good email application.
If I click on a link in an email I get redirected to the link on my phone’s default browser. When I go back to Outlook it loads my inbox. I then would have to search for the email again if I want to continue reading through the email that redirected me.
It would be nice for Outlook to remember my last state so that I can go back to where I left off when I left the app.
When i open a certain email and a file and go to another application in the mobile, while returning to outlook it will reset and it is very annoying. I have to search again for this email. Please solve this issue, previously the app was good
Don’t know if this is an outlook issue or iOS but it’s very annoying that MS outlook restarts when switching to another app, even if it’s only for 30 seconds. You lose your place and can’t remember where you were in email.
Outlook always closes on me and restarts when I am switching between apps. If I am drafting a mail in a thread which I have to search for (the search can take a few minutes because the results are never accurate) and then switch to my messenger app to respond to something more urgent, by the time I come back to outlook the work I was doing has closed outlook has restarted and I am at the top of my inbox. I completely lose track of what I am doing and find myself having to search for the thread all over again.
When I switch out of the app on iPad, if I don’t go straight back in, when I do go back (even 20 seconds later), the app is back at the inbox.
I frequently search for emails and want to leave the search results and chosen email, and expect when I return it’s as I left it
When I switched to other apps, outlook will restart and go to the mailbox. They should stay where i left ex. Mail or attached file.

This is one of the most frustrating issues to deal with. Apple's default apps all seem to do a great job of continuing where you left off when you leave and come back to the app (so long as you don't force close it), but Outlook on iOS does a very poor job of it. Email is *productivity* tool, so please stop tanking my productivity and forcing me to rescroll to the email I had open every time I click on a link and come back.
