Option to not automatically mark item read
If I am on an email and perform some action on it (move, delete, etc) and the pointer moves to the next email which happens to be unread, that new selected email is marked as read. For now I have to swipe to mark as Unread because I don’t want to process/read it yet.
Don't want to use Outlook on my ipad due to this reason. I can make the setting change on my iphone and it works fine. Get with the game!

I miss critical emails because my iOS Outlook marks messages as read that I never see. Please provide an option in iOS:
[x] Do not automatically mail as read

Support - This is critical needed
Give the same option as in Outlook on the computer.
And why would you make a swipe option for mark email as read, if it automatically reads it.
You make me exit an email just because I mark it unread. I’m not done reading but I know I need to go back to it.
It's beyond ridiculous that there are specific settings in the web platform, and desktop platforms for Outlook to directly affect this change, and not on the mobile version. The mobile version should ALWAYS be easier to use, and this forces me to not interact with it at all.
This is really, really embarrassing.
Even freeware can handle this trivial.
It is ashame to Microsoft that we even have to vote for such a trivia.
Add setting to not automatically mark an email as read when using the preview window.

I occasionally check my shared work inbox on my iPad and I continuously face the hassle of having to mark emails I have clicked on unread as to not disrupt my colleagues/admin.
Although I have set my swipe options to allow me to easily mark as read/unread, I would much prefer to have the option to not automatically read emails I have clicked on like I have the option to on desktops/laptops. Especially as more and more people are using iPads as alternative to laptops.
It would be nice to mirror desktop outlook feature where you can just browse the message but doesn’t have to mark it as read.
I want to use the mobile client in a read only mode. Hence I dont want the mobile client to mark mail as read.
Would like to have the option of this feature.

when unread filter is on, the email disappears in the list right after you open it and exit it. I am one of the many users that keep emails that need action item as “Unread”,so i can later revisit it later in the day. The filter should not refresh right away.
This behaviour is different when compared to
portal.office / Office 2016 where the email does not disappear right away and only when you turn off and turn on unread filter again
This feature is causing messages to fall through the cracks and negatively affecting my workflow. It would be great to have the option to turn it off as you can with OWA and on other platforms
This is a really important feature. Without this it is practically impossible to manage an inbox.
This feature is critical. Currently it is impossible to rely on the read-flag to determine which emails have been processed or not. For example, if you checked your email on your phone but are interrupted in the process and forget to flag the email as unread, then you lose this email in your workflow.
Agreed per comments. Using Outlook on iPad for work is unreliable to manage without being able to turn automatic read status off Had several cases already where email is accidentally set to read Causing me to respond too late to customer queries.
This feature needs to be added as an option per account on the iPad OS and iOS Outlook 365 apps. I don’t know many people that want their email to be marked as read as soon as it is clicked on/scrolled through. Having the additional step of swiping those messages that you want to remain unread is unnecessary. Thank you.
Please add an option to keep emails unread when viewing them in preview mode. For example, when device is held in landscape, I’d like to be able to go through unread emails and keep them unread (without manually marking each as unread one at a time). This feature exists in Outlook for PCs.
Also, it would be nice to see a preview (when device is held vertically) by pressing and holding on an email - like in iOS. Right now, doing that gives the batch editing process. Nice to have, but that can be accomplished via its own dedicated button.

Agreed per comments. Needs to leave desktop email status alone for tracking purposes.
Please make an option to turn off automatically marking emails as read. Or alternatively leave them in the list view so they can easily be marked as unread.
