allow contacts to be merged
so in my people tab, where my contacts are, I have alot of duplicates for certain people, this can be quite frustrating. in the contacts on android I can link them, but in outlook there's nothing of the sort.

Outlook for Android app should have at least the same level of functionality in this area as the Windows 10 People App - allowing manual merging of contacts, with help to find them - as well as manual separation. Ideally this should be able to be sync'd between Windows and Android so that the contacts (especially when from outlook.com) look the same on both devices!

Currently merging of duplicate contacts times out. it also has a very small upper limit of duplicates to merge.

Outlook mobile app should be able to meet the same contacts from both Gmail and Outlook account, but doesn't seem to be able to.

Android's native contacts app has what it calls a 'merge duplicates' feature that I don't believe really "merges" contacts information - it seems to just "relate" contact records, leaving a mess.
My suggestion is that Outlook implement a REAL merge feature that first displays the duplicate or similar contact records and allows the user to select one of them as the "base record" to be retained, then displays one of the remaining duplicate/similar records (each a "dup/sim record") next to it - lining them up field by field and creating a new blank field in the "base record" for any field in the "dup/sim record" that the "base record" does not already contain. It then should provides a set of checkboxes in a column between those two records that -- for each matched set of fields -- allows the user to either:
1. KEEP what's in that field of the "base record" (completely ignoring the content of that field in the "dup/sim record");
2. REPLACE the data in that field of the "base record" with the data from the corresponding field of the "dup/sim record";
3. APPEND the data in that field of the "dup/sim record" at the end of the existing data in that field of the "base record":"
4. ADD a new field to the "base record" (giving it the same field name, but incremented (as with a -1 at the end) into which the data from that field of the "dup/sim record is copied; or
5. EDIT manually the content of that field in the "base record".
When the comparison/editing between the "base record" and that particular "dup/sim record" is complete, the user presses SAVE, which causes the "base record" to be saved and deletes that particular "dup/sim record". Then, the next "dup/sim record" is loaded to go through the same comparison/edit process against the "base record". This can be repeated until only the "base record" remains.
[An additional option for simplicity might be a single button that simply populates all empty fields in the "base record" with the data from the correspondingly named fields of the "dup/sim record" and, for each field where data exists in both records, append the data from the field in the "dup/sim record" at the end of that field in the "base record." This button could be selected to apply to all sets of duplicate/similar records when the user wishes to simply preserve all data while eliminating all but one of the duplicate/similar records.]

When you set synchronize contacts on, it copies multiple times, and you have to delete Outlook and reinstall.

Several ideas are very similar or identical. As a user, I would like to have the possibility to link identical ideas with each other so that they get higher scores in the list.

there should be an option in the menu that you tap, and you select which contacts you want to merge.
