both features need to work together but need to appear separately so that it is possible to use the multitasking

We need a light-weight service (or maybe integrate the Calendar with built-in Calendar instead, add per another suggestion), so that we get reminders without needing the Outlook app to be running at the time.

Calendar has its own app under Windows, why not on all other supported platforms?

Also the calendar widgets should have a transparent option to provide a more sleek and modern look.

Having the calendar inside the main outlook app in pronciple seems fine until you want to add calendars but NOT the email accounts. Making the calendar app separate you would be a more competitive client for calendars on android but also allow people to only sync the calendar they want without the emails too. This would also potentially draw back users of Sunrise as this was a popular and by far one,of the best calendar clients that were available.
short of this, you need to add the option to only add calendars without all the emails as well.

Separate the email from the calendar. I just want access to my emails.

i love the calendar UI. i would like the calendar to be its own application separate from mail. also for the calendar to fully support sync and readability from Google services such as Google calendar

Plus they can still be integrated, just the apps won't be as bloated. Follow Facebook and separate your apps!

totally agree, its counter intuitive to have to click within the outlook application to get to the calendar.

It just takes space at the bottom. Was way better on the drawer!
Besides, since the calendar shortcut (for example) doesn't open the Android Calendar app, I'm not using it, so it's worthless! -

Allow a separate app for calendar.
