Fix Trash folder
Swipe email to left to archive the email on the android phone. A message comes up to say there is no archive folder and an option to set this up. Point archive function to deleted folder. Go to Outlook on PC and items archived on phone will appear in deleted items folder.
This is due to a lag with syncing when you setiup your account. Leave wifi on (with access to the internet) for anout an hour. The trash can will eventually appear and work as it should.
The way to delete emails is to move the items you want to delete to your Spam folder.... Then you can either use the 'Enpty Spam' button or you can mark the entry in the Spam Folder and then press the Trash button which then prompts you whether you want to delete permanently or not...
I am having this issue, not tech savy

I installed outlook using the google play store. The email shows up on the phone, but there is no way to delete anything. The app says it has no Trash folder when I try to delete a message. Also, in an effort to resolve this a MS rep had me go to settings, but here exists no Advanced Settings as he prescribed. ...

You have to archive them first..

New Nokia 8 with Android 8.1.0.
I had a Windows Phone and thus all my contacts live in Outlook.com/OneDrive.
Outlook for Android is still suffering this problem. I cannot delete emails from the phone.
I cannot see the option described by another commentor as a solution, namely:-
"Menu / settings / Account / advanced settings / set trash to delete"
I migrated from Windows 10 Mobile only because Microshite abandoned their mobile platform; thus it behoves them to support their products in the alternative ecosystems.
Just downloaded outlook and found same issue. Menu / settings / Account / advanced settings / set trash to delete
Gmail on Android does not do this.
Microsoft is getting lax in fixing App Issues on Android and IOS, both.
Do not understand why it takes so long to a Microsoft App fixed.
Is Microsoft becoming a 2nd rate company?

can't see a single solution to the problem. My inbox is full of trash. Cannot delete because the trash folder is not available.
after "permanently deleting " the trash folder contents, it repopulates, and I have to repeat the process 8-10 times.
I use a Galaxy S6 edge.

On S8+ says "The trash folder isn't available" when trying to delete emails from a Bigpond account. Can't delete emails from Outlook app. Has been working up until now. A Gmail account linked into the same app works just fine.

Please don't let the incoming mails go into the trashcan when we open the app, we have to go and seek them, we want them to be shown as "incoming message", then we will open them or put into the trash
Separate Trash icon from Archive icon. My hands shake a bit and when the icons are next to each other I frequently touch the wrong one.
When using a Nexus 6p and in the trash folder and selecting multiple mails for deletion the app appears to delete them all but freezes and I have to close the app. On reopening the grass folder still has the deleted items in it.
If there are multiple items in the trash and I individually delete them then they are each deleted until the last item.
If there is a single item in the trash folder and I delete it then the app freezes also. Please fix this problem.
Fire the idiot hired to rewrite. fixing a bug by complete rewrite of appearance is wrong and as bad as.....
