  1. The New Outlook

The New Outlook seems not to support email.

When I click on it I get: The following accounts and items aren't supported and won't be available in the new Outlook.

It then lists all my email accounts, IMAP, POP, Gmail and Outlook plus On My Computer folders

  2. The New version of Outlook should handle IMAP accounts

For those of us who use lots of IMAP accounts, the New Outlook will be a disaster. We will be cut-off from Emails. Also the On your computer saved emails has gone away. If this is close to the final version then Apple Mail is the only solution. Please fix this.

  3. Compose new/reply - has to go into new popup window

Please make a setting that composing new emails & replies is done in popup window, rather than in-page. Literally everyone I know writes multiple emails at the same time, not just one, and people pop-open some old emails to drag stuff into new emails they are writing. Forcing me to click the icon to pop out the window is just ridiculous.

  4. Looks very pretty, but seriously lacking needed functionality

The New Outlook really needs to be a fit for purpose tool, its lacking so many important features that it is impossible to use as is.

    • Lack Imap (and POP) support so using with anything other than a main 365 account is impossible.

    • Lack display of shared mailboxes

    • Lots of Addons not working / or even displaying (Citrix Files in my case)

After this I stopped looking further - its a total non starter without these basic functions. Just a pretty skin that doesn't work.

So my idea is - Get it working with basic functions then push to the…

  5. Set Reading Pane to light/dark mode as default when Switch Background is used

When switching emails/views in Outlook, light mode set as background doesn't stay as a default option and reverts back to dark mode.

  8. The bottom Status bar missing

Switched to new Outlook (Mac) and switched right back! The Status bar at the bottom missing. Can't see the number of mails in the active folder or the last sync time/status.

  9. Support local (on my Mac) storage of email files

Hard to believe, but the new Outlook doesn't support storing of emails locally on my Mac.

The old Outlook (Outlook for Mac v16.42 does support email stored locally. This is a critical feature which you've dropped.

What were you thinking Microsoft??? Are you trying to drive me to a non-Microsoft email client? It sure looks that way.

  10. Give back the option to choose text encoding under Format tab. It is greyed out and it is set to automatic.

  11. Add icloud email support back to Outlook for mac

In the earlier versions of the new outlook for mac it supported icloud email just fine and then it was completely dropped. Please add support back.

  12. open mails from display dialogue on mac

With a dialogue popping up based on filters, Mac user needs to close the dialogue and open the subfolder to read the mail.
This is quite annoying in contrast to Windows implementation where the mails can be accesses directly from the notification dialogue which again lists all display dialogues in one pop-up window

  14. Make it easier to toggle the microphone for dictation in Outlook 365.

Suggest you move the microphone toggle icon to the left, somewhere near the send button. This will avoid the ned to scroll to the right to dictate, and then back to the left to send. Alternatively, how about a keyboard short-cut to toggling the microphone ? Don't use the same keyboard short cut as the native Apple dictation system (which is Fn twice) as the systems are different, and yours seems slightly better!

  15. Create plugins for desktop Outlook for macOS

I would like to have a possibility to create plugins for desktop Outlook for macOS like VSTO (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/vsto/create-vsto-add-ins-for-office-by-using-visual-studio?view=vs-2019) for Windows. In such plugins, I need a possibility to intercept and analyze outgoing emails and block them if there is something wrong with data inside emails. Currently, I can only develop JavaScript plugins for Microsoft exchange and use the On-send feature (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office/dev/add-ins/outlook/outlook-on-send-addins?tabs=classic) to intercept outgoing emails which is very inconvenient as it is required an external server that will receive emails for analyzing.

  16. Folder carbon copy (FCC)

Currently, all of my replies are stored in the 'Sent' folder by default, but I'd really like to be able to specify which folder to store a reply into. In other email clients, this is known as "folder carbon copy" (FCC). Would be really great if you could add this functionality to Outlook.

  17. Teams add-in Username format authentication

Hi there, I want the Teams add-in for Outlook for Mac to function with a username format authentication. Since our company doesn't allow authentication with an email address, the Teams add-in for Outlook doesn't work.

  18. Don't use the mail.app "send" shortcut for "discard"

The macOS Mail keyboard shortcut for sending a message is Command_Shift+D. Using the same shortcut for the exact opposite, discarding a draft, is incredibly frustrating for people using muscle memory.

  19. Support Dark Mode in Reading Pane

Please make the preview pane appear dark in dark mode. The current implementation hurts the eyes and is woefully inconsistent with the rest of the application appearance.

  20. Notification Rules/Alerts for Sub Folders.

It is important to set different notification rules for subfolders to manage the mails efficiently.

We see the badges, the number of mail received in the subfolder, but doesn’t notify us that a new email arrived.

There should be an option in the rules whether we want desktop alert or notification for emails that come into that particular subfolder.
