Make search look and work like it does for Windows
The search function for the Windows version of Outlook is fast, easy to use, and in a convienient location. The version for Mac is in the upper right corner, not easy to quickly select search options, and overall is not as easy to use.
Move the search box to the same location on the Mac client and allow for quick drop downs on what to search for. Overall make search on the Mac just as fast and easy to use as the Windows version
I updated to Outlook for Mac version 16.13 (180513) and now the search function does not work. Its like nothing has been indexed.
I see this isn't really where I can actually provide feedback. This is a very poor UX!

there should be an easy way to search for and open Folders as well (and perhaps an "Open" function that works like the "Move" function)

This idea was posted 2 years ago, any progress since that?

I hope this is just a location comment. Mac's useful for suggesting the kind of search to attach (from, subject, etc.) In Windows, you have to type subject:query. The mac implementation just to type a term and cursor down if a modifier is needed is much better.
I really would like to see this happen. Search is practically hidden up there in the far right corner. That's not a good place for it. :-(

Agree! Search in Windows is far superior. In addition to the inconvenient location in the Mac version, search needs the easy access to fine-tuning and Search History
Like it DID for windows. Searching in 2010 with Ctrl-Alt-A was fantastic and no fuss, later versions, especially 2016 are awful in comparison.
Hi - did you ever find a solution to this?

I agree, search box location is too far away from the emails themselves. It would be good if it behaved identically to windows.
You mean: make it terribly slow, unreliable, and make it more difficult to find anything at all?
I think it's bad as it is, there is no point making it any worse!
Outlook for windows is completely unreliable, unstable, slow as **** and unusable with more than 10 emails. Outlook for mac is only a tiny bit better.
Agree that inconsistent / fragmented experience is painful for those of us that switch between mac and windows.
Seems like one designer team should own both and merge the UX/UI.
I completely agree. Outlook is totally stupid in this sense. I thought I was just illiterate but glad that someone else is having this issue. Needs to be fixed yesterday!!!
I find the search function close to useless. I often try to search in the sent folder using the name or email address and get nothing at all. In other folders I only receive partial results. I'm stuck with going through to manually find emails. They are always there but search doesn't find them. I don't know much about outlook for windows but searching in Apple Mail works really well.
search should include contents from PDF files ( this function is in windows outlook)

Yes, please make the search function actually effective. I often search for words that I know are in the body of email in the folder I'm searching, yet they do not come up in the search result. What is the point???
If you search - it will search all of outlook and not the specific folder selected. Would be incredibly helpful

I find the search function in the MAC version of Outlook hugely inferior to the Windows equivalent. I frequently cannot find what i am looking for - very frustrating.
we need to have any icon to find folder too. we can find the email but not a folder.
Please make search work in all folders and all accounts. Searching for something is impossible!
I noticed that when searching via main Inbox tab, timeline of search results is disjointed and not linear. Sometimes, emails are missed entirely, even though they fit the search descriptions and can only be found by Search function when you highlight deeper folders within the main Inbox tab. Sames goes for Sent Emails outbox.
