After deleting an email, jump to next unread email
I prefer having new emails on top. Currently after deleting an email, the next highlighted email is the one I previously read (next in line, below the deleted email). There should be an option to move to the next unread email instead. It would be easier to read through emails beginning with the oldest unread email (lowest of the highlighted unread emails), and delete through the list, and move UPwards.

Is there a way in Outlook to read new email that came in first, to read it, then delete it, and that Outlook would not go to the last read email, but but go to the next unread email?

Add the option for the Mac (like Windows has), when you are viewing an e-mail and delete it, you have the option of opening the next e-mail. This is a setting in the Outlook for Windows, but no similar option in the Mac version of Outlook.

Default should be to move to next unread mail (above or below).
If you then press up or down arrow, then change direction to use that as the direction to move on the next message delete.
Apple Mail works exactly this way. Outlook for Mac / Outlook for iOS is sorely lacking this feature. -

This has been requested now for many, many, many, many years… It is ridiculous that it has not yet been added.

After pressing delete/archive it should move in the same direction you were previously moving in. This is how Mac Mail does it.

I agree that it would be a great option to select either "Delete Down" or "Delete Up" as suggested.

Because I can't do this on my Mac, it dramatically slows down productivity when I am plowing through a full inbox. It seems like such a simple request, but it's been sitting here since 2015.

I would like the when the email is deleted , the next email * rad or not unread is opened. This will minimize a lot clicks. The preview pane is not clear enough to decide if the email can be deleted or not

Why is this a PC feature and not a Mac feature.

I won't use Outlook on Mac because the feature to open the next message upon a delete or move that I've used in Outlook for years is missing on the Mac. The Windows version has the ability to set what action is performed upon a message delete or move. Mac just moves the message or delete it and the message stays on the screen. This is very annoying and I won't use the Mac versions of Microsoft. It's amazing to me that this was omitted on the Mac. I see 1000's of posts for people using this feature. Seems pretty easy to implement. Why was it omitted by MS? Please put this feature in the Mac version of Outlook.

My goodness, I just moved from a PC to a Mac at work (which I'll now have for the next 3 years given refresh schedule) and I can't believe that's not an option. Why on earth would you want to go to the email you've already read after deleting? This is ridiculous. Satya - please ask your MS Outlook for Mac team to fix, this should be a simple and fast fix.

Please add this to MacOS. It's been missing for years.

I started a new job and chose to use a Mac. I have used ms office in Windows environment for decades and this email limitation has caused a serious issue for me, particularly because I have tendinitis. I try to minimize the number of mouse clicks.
The only way I can explain the lack of this feature is that Microsoft is trying to discourage people from using Macs. Very unfortunate :( -

I totally agree!! This is exactly how I have things set on my work (Win10) laptop, but would be perfect if I have the same functionality on my MAC.

Also, provide a button to open next or previous email in the folder to navigate to another email.

It should select the next email in the direction you are moving. The current implementation feels broken.
