Keep Collapsed All Groups collapsed!
Like many people have already raised this issue, even back in 2016, especially on macOS. However recent updates has thrown another spanner in the works; every time I manually collapse every group (i.e. Today, Yesterday, Tuesday etc.) in inbox reading view, every time I click on Older to collapse, it automatically expands all of the groups, which is annoying. There is no right-click function to "Collapse All Groups", instead having to go to "Organise">"Arrange By">"Collapse All Groups".
This will only stay collapsed until you exit the app, or when we venture into another group/sub-folders then go back into Inbox view, all groups get expanded again.
Please fix this issue, by providing us right-click and ability to stay collapsed even after exit and re-enter the app!

Click View tab, and then click View Settings in the Current View group. ... If you want to open the Outlook with all groups expanded by default, please select All Expanded in the Group By dialog under Expand/collapse defaults. If not, select the other one.

Go to View -> View Settings -> Group By. At the bottom choose "All Collapsed" or "As last viewed".

Saving the collapsed view does not work. As soon as I navigate from my mail to calendar and then back, all of the previously collapsed groups are no longer collapsed.

It is very frustrating that everyday when I get into work and open Outlook, all folders are automatically expanded in all areas including my calendar. I have many sub folders and calendars because of the nature of my job and waste 5-10 minutes everyday getting outlook viewable as all the expanded folders is quite busy.

This is very annoying! @microsoft please have this option to collapse all by default at the startup.

Save your collapsed view as a new view. So collapse all of your categories. Then go to View > Change View > Save Current View As a New View.

Add an option in preference so that when selected, the default mail account in sidebar is collapsed by default when Outlook is started.

Highlight collapse groups in message summary list when there is a new message or an unread message to easily check which groups to expand to actually see the message instead of going to the inbox.
