It's incredibly annoying not being able to do this. I have a bunch of folders in the On My Mac section that I need to move up to my Gmail account. Not being able to do this means I have no sync. If I want to recreate a folder in Gmail, I have to go to Gmail to do it. Do you want your customers to hate you for locking them into using an antiquated system of local folders that you can't do anything with?
it's extremely annoying that such a basic feature doesn't work... I'd be ever so grateful if you were able to fix this.
- a very unhappy user

I agree with everything being said. I use email to run my businesses and if I can't set up a basic folder system to sort and store information then Outlook becomes useless. Bad form Microsoft!

I couldn't agree more. Using folders is vital to my work - the simplest thing and the most annoying.
Poor show Microsoft - as if you care ...!
This is one of the most elementary features and it's not working. It's like having Excel and not being able to sum numbers... How can 2 giants like Microsoft and Google not be able to make this work? This is ridiculous.
I spent 3 days in touch with Microsoft support to get my problem solved and no-one was able to give me the right information or to fully support me in implementing a viable solution. I was always redirected to online manuals that actually didn't help me at all. This back and forth is tiring.
Please, be more customer-centric. It is not normal to have to spend so much time and energy to make something as basic as this work.
Piling on here... This is clearly a Microsoft issue. Not Apple's fault. Not Google's fault. Microsoft disappoints its users in hopes they will move everything to a Windows environment. Bad decision that backfired. It leaves us very disappointed with Microsoft. We're being played and we don't appreciate it!! Please fix this now!!
Almost went and purchased 50 business licenses for an Apple based office. Playing around with it on my laptop, i discover that i cannot add/edit/move/delete folders from my outlook client is just silly. Guess i'll have to use the native applications that do everything we need and came with the computer for free.

This is unbelievable. Have been a Outlook use for ever, but looks like, now it's time to move. Its beyond frustrating. Just basic stuff and no respite.
fix it already this is crazy to be paying for outlook and no basic options!
I have used Outlook on Mac for years and loved being able to create and manage folders. I got a new Mac and now this feature is gone. I'm infuriated by an awesome feature being removed. This is really impacting my ability to do my job. I'm probably going to have to move to a different email solution and maybe go back to running Windows.

The fact that I cannot rename or delete a folder in outlook on a MAC is infuriating. Why would you take away a basic necessary feature. Whoever did this should be fired and never employed again. WTH
I use Outlook for Mac on across three Macs and you removing the 'add new folder' option has really had an impact on my business. Its so time consuming to have to go to Gmail to add a new folder then back to Outlook. I can't even manage my folders in Outlook by dragging and dropping anymore.
I pay yearly for this software on 365, however, if this is not fixed soon I will not be renewing for sure as I might as well just use Gmail on its own!!
Sort it out please or loose another disappointed customer, like all those below me!!
Very upset that my New Folder tab has been ghosted. What is the point of not allowing a user to create a new folder. I own a business and need to do thing on the fly as well as keep things organized. My email has to stay clean and this causes a series issue for me. The main reason I purchased Outlook was the New folder option, and now there is a monthly or annual fee for what... What a waste of money, I minds well stick to online email systems. Won't be back next year or any year after that if this continues.
I just purchased Office 365 as I wanted to simplify home computer work with my mac and Outlook works so well at the office being on windows. So disappointed that not easy to add folders with gmail account as it is with mail on mac..... waste of money buying this just for a good diary option and a very sub standard mail option!!!! Please fix
I've just transferred our emails over to outlook thinking it will help us manage emails better. This is so disappointing. I will move back to mac mail.
Ever since the most recent update, I can't create folders which is absolutely critical to keeping my inbox manageable... They need to fix this ASAP.

One of the main reasons I use Outlook is to have a uniform interface to various email systems i.e. I don't want to have to learn about Gmail labels, etc. - I just want to know how to do things in Outlook with the software figuring out how to achieve the same in the background with each email system.
It is also a nuisance to have to keep revalidating Gmail accounts frequently - would like to see this addressed too.
Hi. What is the complexity of making this feature possible? When I'm clicking "New items" - there are two options: "New folder" or "New folder on this level" but they are greyed out! Why it is so bad for Mac users? Hope it will be fixed that month!
