I would like this feature on a granular (per-folder) basis because I have mail that is both noisy and priority, so rather than fill up my general inbox, I have it filtered to its own folder. But, because this mail is important, I want the folder to turn bold or red or something more alarming so I take the time to go read it. I don't want this to be an on-screen alert because that interrupts my flow.

please. please please please fix this. If I can't go back to Outlook 2011, which at least WORKED, then bring back this feature. It's such a tiny thing and people have been BEGGING for it since 2017. Why can't this function be restored?

Still an issue in 2020. Please bold the folder of unread mail, and the parent folder of sub-folders holding unread mail. It's a great way to stay organised at a glance.

This is so inconvenient in newer Outlooks... Now I see how BOLD folders were important in my daily usage of this program...

seriously.....ppl have been complaining about this since Jan 2017, and it still hasn't reverted back to the old bolding of folders? HOW SLOW ARE YOU in listening to your customers!?!?!?!

this was an extremely useful feature. I wish it was still available on outlook for Mac. Please bring it back. Why was it taken away in the first place? Why would something so useful be removed from Outlook functionality in the first place? I cannot imagine anyone not liking it.

Highlight folders in outlook 2016 for Mac that includes new emails. It is not practical to keep all folders showing all the time

I sorely miss the bold folders for unread mail! On my laptop, I put the window of the app I'm working on a little to the right to see the folder names. In the previous version, I could tell I received email by the bolding. I now have to move my window over more to see a number which greatly reduces the window's size of the app I am working on! Please bring back bold folder names for unread email.

I'd been perfectly happy with Outlook 2011 on my Mac, but having had no option but to upgrade the Office apps, I'm very inconvenienced by the lack of bold folders when there's an unread message... we all have dozens of email accounts, rules, folders, sub folders, and just having the feeble little number next to them is easily missed. BRING BACK THE BOLD!!

I would really appreciate, if Outlook could inform me of new mail in sub folders. Outlook 2011 had a smart features, when a new e-mail was received in a sub folder it would highlight in bold letter the title of the sub folder, identifying presence of new e-mails. Please bring this feature back, or find a way to make it easy to locate new e-mails guided by rules in sub folders. Otherwise this software defeats the purpose of functionnal e-mail software. If nothing is done, I will terminate my subscription for Office 365.

Unbelievable that people have been complaining about that problem since the beginning of 2017 and nothing has been done about it. I have dozens of folders nested within dozens of folders to keep my mail organized. I need the bold folder names to be able to access them easily instead of having to open all the major folders to see if there is email waiting to be answer. Please revert to the bold folder names asap.

Has anyone figured out how to bold these folders yet. I'm missing very important updates from my colleague by sending them to a designated folder. Again, has anyone found a solution to this?

The big advantage of Outlook was the facilitation of dealing with big quantities of messages and mailboxes. But it is now much difficult to identify the unread messages, if you have rules that directed particular messages to specific folders. If there is un unread message in a closed subfolder, you will not notice the situation. The 'clear', soft and unmodifiable interface now makes it difficult to professionally use the app. I am going back, again, to the 2011 version, until corrections are done on the interface

I just had Outlook 2016 installed and I am very upset about not being able to make the folder labels bold. I separate my e-mails by project number and with sub folders by PO number. Now it is just one long continuous list with no way to define the Project names or PO numbers.
And I have to keep going to every folder and clicking it to mark all as read because the number thing is useless and drives me crazy.
