Introduce auto-saving of drafts
Currently, Outlook 2016 for Mac doesn't auto-save drafts and has no option to do so. This has been a feature in the Windows version of Outlook for a long time, and has a configurable delay.
Outlook 2016 for Mac supports email drafts, as proved by the Save Draft button at the top of a newly composed email, so surely an auto-save option would not be too difficult to implement?
Ohh the humanity. Why is Outlook on Mac so handicapped?
Just like windows, would it kill you guys to implement a 3 min auto save of draft ?
please please, enable this

Another vote for this critical feature. Please implement urgently.

Drafts should save in the drafts folder but it is not!!!

like many have said this is a major feature and not having it is most frustrating, please add it soon!
Adding to this, just made the switch from PC to Mac and amazed it's not auto-saving my mails when I click away. Please implement it!
Can we PLEASE have this implemented immediately? If not, then how can I re-download an OLDER version of Outlook to ensure that my drafts are autosaving. This feature is IMPERATIVE for my work.
This is ridiculous that auto-saving of drafts isn't implemented by now. Please do so.
Needs an auto send and recieve every so often choices.
After losing an email I was composing *three times* I went looking for the autosave drafts setting in Outlook, and was shocked to find that it's not available on Mac.
Very tempted to find an alternative.. this is a critical feature. Please fix this!
Please add auto-save feature for Outlook note. Outlook very often quits unexpectedly especially on Mac. This feature would be really helpful
90% of the time I send email, I want it to work the way it does now.
But occasionally (e.g. replying to an email with a lot of recipients, esp those higher up than me) I want to have a way to lock a draft so that I can't accidentally send it with the slip of a finger.
To deal with this, I've occasionally either deleted everyone from the To Line (which is a pain to undo because I have to go find the original email and copy and paste and hope I got them right) or I've drafted in a separate app (E.g. Notes app) and copy and paste the text (but then have to reformat). (Maybe once I've turned off send/receive, but that's too heavy of a hammer for this. I've also heard of people using delayed send on other platforms, but again, that's not what I want 90% of the time.)
In practice, I don't do either this much because it's too cumbersome.
So I'd love to be able to hit a "Lock" button that will prevent me from sending an email, but do nothing else. To send, I'd have to Unlock it first (with a switch FAR away from the send button).
It is strange and frustrating that this is not supported - for goodness' sake - why not?
I moved over from Gmail to Outlook for our business, and surprised to see that Outlook doesn't support what seems like a basic feature of email, the ability to auto-save drafts. Time to get with the program Microsoft...

This really impacts working across devices if you leave your desktop and forget to save manually... not to mention losing an email should my Mac or Outlook crash unexpectedly.
Jesus Christ, Microsoft! Now and then Outlook crashes and guess what? Because you have decided NOT to implement a auto-save option for Outlook Mac then I lose e-mail drafts that I've been working HOURS on. Shame on you!
I keep losing emails, when I need to urgently reboot or shutdown my Mac without being able to save every draft email. This is a really negative productivity impact.

Please include this enhancement for MAC!!! It is strange to me why Microsoft would NOT want the user interfaces for different operating systems to be the same.
My gosh, yes!!! It is SO annoying that you can't quit Outlook without reviewing each unsent message you have open. Just autosave them as drafts for frick's sake! Reopen those drafts when Outlook is launched again. Problem solved!
This complaint has been around for almost a year - what's the problem Microsoft?
Yes, please! My whole day is drafting emails to send at a later time. Would love to see them show up in my inbox, rather than drafts file
