Option to disable “quote only selected text on reply” feature
If some mail text is selected, only that text is set in quote part on reply. This behavior is not very convenient for me as a longtime user of Outlook for Windows desktop.
I want an option to disable it and let Outlook behave like Windows client.

Hi all, as of release 16.21 it is possible to disable “quote only selected text on reply” in Mac Outlook. Go to Outlook/Preferences/Composing and uncheck the
“Only reply to selected text” box.
Thanks for your support!

Please REMOVE this feature or make it OPTIONAL (with the default value “deactivated”)!
In almost every case you want to get forwarded or replied e-mails with the complete history. It does not make sense that the history of an e-mail gets lost by accident. But this happens as you can see in this discussion.
If you want to work with such a feature you should really switch this feature on consciously! -

This function is not valuable at all!!! It annoys and produces many mails without the correct mail trail! Why can't it be set to an OPTION in outlook - then the user could decide.
PLEASE change this to OPTIONAL! -

I couldn't find this option Preferences > Composing > At the bottom check 'Include all of the original message text'.
Every time this happens, I want to hurt something. PLEASE STOP THIS STUPID STUPID STUPID "feature". Not one person I know likes it or uses it. It is crazy making to the point of moving off Outlook all together.

Guys... you can turn this off I think!
Preferences > Composing > At the bottom check 'Include all of the original message text'.
Seemed to work for me :)

The way this feature should work... Highlight text then right click and select "Forward selected text".
This should NOT be the default. The default should forward the FULL email that is being replied to or forwarded.
Please make this so!
I do understand the usefulness of this, but NOT as the DEFAULT.

Puzzled as to why they'd include such a useless "feature" in the first place - but, beyond that, absolutely mind-boggled that there's no option to disable it.

It's been just over a year since I switched from a PC to an Apple and I still haven't adjusted to this useless feature. Why this wouldn't be an optional feature is beyond me.
Microsoft's development team is clearly resentful they can't use Apple computers so they must rain on our parade.

I get many emails with cases to troubleshoot. The emails usually contains some reference to a specific case that I select, copy and then paste into my troubleshooting tool. As soon as I finished troubleshooting, I want to give feedback to the originator of the case and click Reply on the email that still has my old selection in it. Guess what happens - not convenient for me! This happens several times a day for me and it is just too counterintuitive to allow me to learn to remove the selection prior to clicking Reply.
I'm sure the feature is valuable to many users, but please allow for it to be disabled for us poor souls that simply hates it!

I almost always click somewhere in the message before replying. And it almost always replies without the full text. I do this unconsciously, and have to consciously click somewhere else before I can reply. It's so annoying.
Don't include features like this without the ability to turn them off! I'm sure they're helpful for some, but they're a huge annoyance to most.
