Delete older emails than x days for folders
Now, there's sweeping function "Delete older emails than x days" possible only for categorized emails or emails matching predefined filter. It would be nice to implement this function under folders (like in Exchange). Categories are not shown in other (mobile, desktop) clients and we have worse control under this process. Moving emails to folder with "auto-delete" set (some kind of pre-trash folder but still searchable) makes better control under sweeping.

There needs to be a setting where all incoming mail gets deleted from your inbox after a set time say 2 years.
Thus stops inbox becoming full

It seems the junk email no longer auto-deletes. It used to do this after 10 days and now doesn't do it at all.
I've had my e-mail account since I was 11 years old and I'm now 27. I would really love a feature that automatically deletes mail that is older than XX amount of days or be able to delete all e-mails prior to a certain date. Or really anything that would me to clear up massive amounts of e-mails without sitting here for hours going through it all. I have 10,000 plus unread e-mails and I'm sure an even larger amount of read. PLEASE HELP
I want to delete all email older than 6 months not 10 days ten days is way too short a time frame.. you need to provide options!!!!

why did you ruin the mailbox , emails delete two fast from the inbox
Please make let users select the number of days to keep mail in the sweep options.
Don't just give 10 days.
let us decide how long we want junk mail before delateed
ten days is way to long for the amount I am getting
mail.com allows us to choose and 2 days is the shortest
can you let us decide
I hate outlook
Deleted E Mail
I just purged 3-4 months of deleted e mail. There should be AN AUTOMATIC DELETE AFTER NO LESS THAN A WEEK. just realized caps were on. Sorry.
Please respond if there is an option I am not seeing to have it truly deleted.
I would like to be able to select the age of old emails to automatically delete from any given folder. Currently I am only able to automatically delete emails older than 10 days. This is too short a time period.

I'd like to be able to delete newsletters older than 1 month.
Or be able to delete anything in a folder older than 1 month.

Outlook Mail (aka the new Outlook.com):
Instead of just an option to "empty folder", please give us the option to "empty folder of email older than X days". You could give us the option of older than 8 days and older than 35 days.
So on the empty folder verification page we'd have 3 options we could click on:
Empty folder of email older than 8 days?
Empty folder of email older than 35 days?
(On large screens double space the options like that to prevent typos.)

For Outlook Mail (the new Outlook.com webmail):
I would like to be able to delete email in my Advertising folder older than X days, like I could with the old version or Outlook.com. Actually the old old version of Outlook.com was even better, because we could specify the number of days.
I want to create a rule for my Advertising folder that says, "Delete all email in the Advertising folder more than 10 days old, except if it has any category".
I want to create a rule for my Software Notifications folder that says, "Delete all email in the Software Notificiations folder more than 32 days old".
(Obviously these would be rules for email received days or weeks earlier. Being able to set rules for emails received days or weeks earlier is also something I'd like in the desktop Outlook 365 too.)

It would be a really good idea to have a simplified rule making system like outlook email used to have. One where you could just press a couple of buttons and create a rule that deleted all but the last email from a particular recipient to prevent the inbox filling up with old emails. Instead of the one it currently has where you have a complicated page full of options hidden in drop down boxes that do not appear to have maintained that obviously useful option but may do in such a way that a user really doesn't know for sure.
Bring back the ability to delete "ALL" email older than 10 days. I decided after trying to do it for each bloody email address that it just is not worth the effort to set up for every sender of email. Instead I will just let your space be used to store email to the end of time.. LOL.

- DELETE MAILS OLDER THAN this one marked with cursor
-keep some mails locked so that they will not be affected
- delete mails older than 10 days is very short: I would like more options like 1, 3, 6 or 12 months

How can I retrieve my older emails after the upgrade
k.hagen at outlook.com commented
Delete email older than 10 or 3 days, automatically enabled by manual rule set. Like in previous Hotmail versions.
The best feature of Outlook is the "delete automatically if message is older than" rule which is brilliant . Strangely it only gives the option to delete after 10 days! That's great but why not several options: 2 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year?? All of these options would be really useful! Please implement it! I cannot wait to take advantage of this feature!

Bring back 'if Older than X days (/ not the newest X) then move to folder' options. Just bring it back. Please. Pretty please with sugar on top?
