Keep existing online status
Simply, when you log off Hotmail, ensure that the status of your presence (Available, Invisible etc.) is continued when you log back in. It is so frustrating logging in, contacts seeing you are online, and messaging as such. Your consideration would be greatly appreciated with this. I have many lucrative ideas - this is just a suggestion. I am looking for a role in an exceptionally forward-thinking company and if an example of my idea could be looked at, implemented and then a potential job role offered, then I would be open to sharing all my other ideas for Microsoft. My best wishes and thanks,

STOP changing my status to available! You people at MS are ********.
Help stop 'available' returning - even after it has been set to 'invisible'

I 'm setting the skype status "invisible" and it keeps changing to "online".
Fix that please! It's very annoying and it looks like you're not paying attention to what the customer wants.
microsoft account: "invisible" keeps reverting to "available".
sometimes no button for changing status.
one drive will not delete files.
Please make it possible to set my default online presence, that is, set my Skype presence as Invisible rather than Available when I first log in to my email account.

Add an easy way to show Unavailable always as Outlook keeps displaying Available on sign in and changing Skype too which is annoying when you don't want to be disturbed!

When I login messenger/Skype whatever is always Available even if I set it to Invisible.
Please keep it as I SELECT and permanently until I decide to CHANGE..
Sometimes ir starts Available and change to invisible meaning it marked me Available even If I asked to be Invisible..
Maybe you should hire some programmers that use your software.
Please keep the user profile as available/invisible or whatever at the last setting until the user changes it. I'm tired of having to toggle it every time I log in. Give the USER THE CHOICE and quit substituting YOUR choice.

Let people set their status and keep it that way! If I set my status to "Invisible" or "Away," it's because that's how I want it. Stop changing it automatically!
This idea of the users' choices being retained once they have been set would reduce a lot of dissatisfaction with the otherwise quite good service provided by outlook.
Until this idea can be achieved, please seriously consider making the default setting "invisible". Users who wish to be available can easily change their status after logging in.
Please note that the default "available" setting invades the users' privacy. The ability to change the setting from "available" to "invisible" isn't enough to stop that invasion.
It's as if the building authorities decree that the default position of your doors is on "unlocked": You can, of course, lock your door. But as you sleep, the evening door-keeper will replace the daytime door-keeper and while they change places, the daytime door-keeper will be required to log off as the evening door-keeper will then log on. Naturally, this will reboot the system. The same rebooting of the system would occur every time you exited and returned. All doors will be unlocked again. Allowing anyone and everyone to enter.
I've found a link where there are 4 different ways to solve this problem, although I only needed to use the first. And it worked!

recently in their infinite wisdom outlook has decided to randomnly change your status from invisible to available and to block you from changing it back without logging out and logging back in. i know this is not an issue at my end as suggested by the forum mods as it happens on my desktop my laptop and even my phone unlike some i don't sit and watch my outlook i have a life but whenever i come back guess what? yep i am no longer showing invisible i and i assume plenty of others choose to be seen as invisible so please fix this issue
Microsoft, still doing nothing about the online status defaulting to Available no matter what status is selected.

When deleting all items from a folder place the folder name between double quotes, its confusing the way you placed the text.
And could you add a cookie to save the last messenger status (It goes always to 'Online' every time I open my e-mail)

Why in the world - so many privacy and security concerns - did Outlook decide to start showing our online status without a) alerting us to this change and b) giving us an option to opt out of it???

I'm tired too of my status being removed from Invisible each time I open Outlook.com. I don't even have to log out for he change to happen, only going to another website then directly back is enough to be seen as not Invisible again.
Please do something when there are so many people asking for it!
Hi, I would like to unlink my Skype account and my Microsoft Outlook email account. I don't want my Skype status to misleadingly indicate "available" when I'm not on Skype but simply checking my emails, possibly on my phone. Rather frustratingly, even if I change the status in the top right corner of Outlook, it automatically gets back to "available", either if I sign out and then sign back in, or sometimes seemingly just on its own after a certain period of activity on Outlook.
The Skype Support website tells me that "Due to ongoing changes, linking and unlinking of Skype and Microsoft accounts is currently unavailable". When is it expected to become available again? This forced coupling with Outlook is really annoying.
This has been been one o Outlook's most irritating problems for some time now, that and the connection to skype issue. Microsoft are surely aware of this, but are not doing about it. I for one am now considering dumping outlook for gmail where you can choose what your online status is, and it stays that way.

For the love of God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remove the automatic online presence as it is dangerous for those that do not want their online status known. Put in a choice that gives the user the choice of "Never show as online" ASAP!!! and make it cookie independant so even if cookies are erased it is active as choice until otherwise chosen.
How do I change settings so that my status is, at all times and by default, invisible? The current implementation by Microsoft is horrible, a real privacy gap! There is already a huge outcry from users on this! Just Google "outlook.com<http://outlook.com> status invisible". It cannot be that any more suggestion-box inputs are are really needed; what a privacy *****! Also, for security reasons, I will never click "keep me signed in" on Outlook.com or anything else, and all cache, cookies, and everything else are cleared each time I finish with the browser. It was a huge MS privacy-error mistake to default people to remaining visible.
